Local Security Company Selected to Provide Advanced Surveillance Technology to the Merced Police Department

MERCED, CALIFORNIA — Mid Valley Protection, Inc., a locally owned and veteran-owned security company serving California’s Central Valley, is proud to announce its selection by the City of Merced to provide advanced solar-powered surveillance technology for the Merced Police Department.
On June 16, 2025, the Merced City Council officially approved a $36,000 contract with Mid Valley Protection, Inc. for the purchase of a solar-powered surveillance camera trailer. The purchase was funded through the 2024 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, which supports public safety and law enforcement initiatives.
The contract represents an important milestone for Mid Valley Protection and demonstrates the company’s ability to compete for and secure municipal government contracts involving specialized security technology.
Selected Through a Competitive Bidding Process
The City of Merced conducted a formal competitive bidding process to identify a qualified vendor capable of providing the surveillance equipment requested by the Police Department.
Mid Valley Protection successfully competed against other surveillance equipment providers, including companies operating outside California.
Following the evaluation process, City staff recommended awarding the contract to Mid Valley Protection.
The City Council subsequently approved the award, authorizing the purchase of the surveillance trailer.
In addition to the initial contract, the City Council approved a competitive-bidding exemption for the potential purchase of up to two additional surveillance trailers from Mid Valley Protection during the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
The exemption was approved to support equipment standardization, allowing the City to purchase compatible surveillance technology without conducting a separate competitive bidding process for those additional units.
This authorization reflects an opportunity for Mid Valley Protection to continue supporting the City’s surveillance equipment needs.
